Description

To assist with IR interventions to ensure that the organisation attains its objectives of a healthy conducive IR climate and social responsibility through good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, RISK, QUALITY AND COMMUNITY

  • Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.

  • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)

  • Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)

  • Utilise the Information Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status us

CUSTOMERS

Customer Relations:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction

  • Interact with customers and be aware of operational concerns and any inherent peculiarities (e.g. IR Issues)

Supplier Relations:

  • Liaise with HR suppliers

BUSINESS PROCESSES:

  • Coordinate and attend disciplinary hearings

  • Ensure consistency and compliance by all parties to the Disciplinary Policy and Legislation at disciplinary/grievance hearings

  • Keep appropriate records of proceedings and outcomes of disciplinary/grievance hearings

  • Facilitate the resolution of employee grievances

  • Coach line management and employee representatives on conflict resolution and leadership

  • Assist with operational IR issues

  • Assist with first line IR related problems in area of responsibility

  • Monitor the IR climate at BU’s

  • Record and compile monthly disciplinary and litigation statistic reports

  • Assist with the preparation of cases referred for litigation

  • Represent the company at the CCMS when necessary

  • Identify and monitor IR trends across BU’s

  • Track outstanding union issues

  • Handle day to day conflict, queries and discipline

  • Assist with compiling communiques pertaining to IR issues

  • Assist with compiling letters to unions regarding IR issues

  • Compile and conduct IR/Labour Law/Disciplinary training

  • Any ad hoc IR related tasks

SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Office programs

  • SAP – maintenance of disciplinary records

KNOWLEDGE:

  • IR Legislation

  • Demonstrate and apply an understanding of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (Act 75 of 1997)

  • Demonstrate ad apply an understanding of the Labour Relations Act (Act 66 of 1995)

  • Demonstrate understanding of how to provide HR guidance during a Disciplinary Hearing

  • Demonstrate understanding of Dispute Resolution Legislation and Procedures

  • Interpret and manage conflict within the workplace

  • Knowledge of Company Procedures and processes related to HR

 

 

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • HR/Legal/Labour Law/IR Degree or National Diploma

  • 3 years relevant experience, preferably 2 years IR experience in similar environment
